Influencer - Anju Gupta
A police officer from the 1990 batch IPS, UP Cadre, who has charted a significant trajectory in the leadership echelons of Indian Police Service, Anju Gupta is currently Additional General of Police, Uttar Pradesh.
A recipient of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, President Medal for Distinguished Services and the Gallantry Medal, Ms. Gupta has worked in the Central Government for eight years and in multiple specialised units in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh. She currently steers the Women Powerline 1090, a helpline which is aimed at equipping women facing harassment of any kind with a tool to report and access courage and assistance to combat it. “The first step towards “empowering” women is that they feel safe and confident in their private and public spaces. For empowering women, sensitise the institutions and individuals who will in turn drive this process of empowerment,” she says.
The versatility and credibility of her knowledge has been acknowledged by national and international agencies. She has developed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Police Department, United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and International Organisation for Migration (IOM); and has worked with the UN in Bangkok, Kosovo and New Delhi.
As an Influencer, she lends a solution-centric demeanour to the initiative, bringing rich insights from her treasure-trove of knowledge on last-mile execution of large-scale, critical initiatives that involve people and processes.
